Snakes on a Plane

No, I haven't seen it. But we had a conversation during an after hours last night about it and I came to the conclusion that this is a movie that you could not possibly go and see and be disappointed. I mean - what could you possibly be expecting from a movie with this title? If it delivers absolutely ANYthing beyond Sam, a plane and a few snakes, you'd have to be ecstatic. Wouldn't you?

Well, maybe I'm not all wet. According to IMDB, 16,000 plus viewers give it an average rating of 8.0 on a 10 point scale. Unlike your average movie critic, I believe that people rate movies pretty much based on how well they meet or exceed their expectations. And if you are in the habit of using IMDB to gauge the worthiness of movies you have not yet seen, you know that, in spite of the 10 point scale, most movies (well over 90%) fall into the 5 to 8 point range. In fact, it's a rare movie that hits 8.0 or higher.

So I'd guess many of us will end up seeing SoaP at some point. Because we like guy movies or because Sam is the lead or because of the odd pairing of snakes with a plane or just out of morbid curiosity (how could a movie like SoaP get an 8.0 rating anyway?). And from the looks of things, it appears that a lot of us will enjoy it.
